About

Who I am and what I make.

Emmanuel Tsouris

I live in the Seattle area. I’ve spent my career writing software and keeping large systems running. I moved into the cloud in 2016 and stayed.

Today I lead a team at AWS. Start up a computer in the cloud and it boots an operating system. My team works on the Windows and Linux images that make that possible across AWS.

My opinions are my own.

What this is

Have you ever looked at something ordinary and wondered why it is like that?

One question leads to another. Before long, you’re somewhere you didn’t expect to be.

I’ve grouped the writing here into these subjects.

The rest of it

I build things, cook, make little games, travel, take photographs, and usually have too many projects going at once.

I also co-wrote Pro PowerShell for Amazon Web Services.

I remember rabbit ears and UHF dials, and I spend my working days near machine learning. Holding both is useful for telling what is genuinely new from what is an old idea in a new box.

Some stories want photographs and motion rather than a page. Those go on YouTube, and the written version lives here, with the sources and the parts that didn’t fit.

My other sites and projects are on Elsewhere.

If something here is wrong, tell me. I’d rather fix it than be right.
